The Love I'm Seeking

I do not seek stone that is the Christians,
always holding so tightly to their doctrine,
ready to point out offense towards God.
Ready to give you verses and relay
"the truth."

I talked with one in particular,
and it was a disheartening experience.
I merely made a joke,
and he accused me of
offending his God.

Oh, dear Lord,
please tell me that love is more
than stone.
Please tell me I can still be special
and not a slave to ritual.

I must be free...
I have to be free!

Atheists on the other hand
think I'm too stupid,
and they are way too serious
and studious for my tastes.

I need someone silly.
I need someone free
like Mew.

I wanna fly away and go to another universe with those
who know the love
that is squishy and fun.
The love that is truly free
and life giving.

All I ask is that I can be free.
