The First Autumn

Down the hill, and across the field we wandered
Along the paths we walked and talked
laughing and playing, as children do
all day, till the sun ripened
Upon Silverbell lake,
where we swam, and made love in the waters
We ate peaches, from the tree,
with wild strawberries and sweet cream
Laying, on a blanket, drinking the last of the summers wine,
In, our first autum
