Image for the poem Blue devils

Blue devils

In recollections, I reverberate the kill shot
lulled by the clamouring of woe—
a smooth quip through my bones
Blood pools in my rifts
These blue devils, adrift
Grief cinched to their tongues
speak not of bliss
This lament, mired in the fragments of my soul
simmering
as we assemble into jagged walls
puncturing
as resolution befalls
Veil, veil, jacket my resilience
protect me from the despair that rallies afoot
Grit, walk beside me
Accompany me home
