The Ultimate Queen (chapter one/part 2)
In the Vinu Mountains Maline has finished her nest for the coming of her child. This child is her first and quite possibly her last. Her body had a tendency to rid itself of the foreign object. For some reason, this one stayed till term. The Humm women produce offspring within a quarter of a moon phase. They are surrounded by four moons. Maline felt the stirring for her to prepare for the coming.
The mountain of Vin is rich in purple soil. The Humm tribe lived on the mountain for several generations. The height of males is five feet six inches. The females of the species' average height is four feet seven inches. Since they are so short in stature, when they transform, they are pint-sized. Since they are so small, they fight in military formations to protect their people. The Humm people also have a slight tinge of purple on their skin due to eating food grown in the mountain soil.
While the females are occupied making their nests to bring forth the offspring’s, the men went out and patrolled the area. Leaving only the youngest males to guard on the ground.
Uril approached from the east and seen the flock of Humm bird’s approach him. The leader of the formation recognized Uril by the color of his wings and the intensity of his eyes. Uril flown to the nearest hill and transformed into his natural form. The flock followed behind.
The leader of the Humm people walked up to Uril with confidence and without a hint of fear. The Humm leader spoke.
“I am Duura, leader of the Humm people. We are honored that the royal guard has visited our people.” The leader announced.
“I am here in search of one of your females who is birthing at this moment,” Uril said in a matter-of-fact tone. Not to be challenged.
“With respect to the queen, why one of our females? There are other tribes that are giving birth at this time.” The leader said, choosing not to acknowledge the menacing look Uril was giving him. Uril had never been questioned before. He decided that the Humm people were too free in there, thinking they could disobey the queen’s order.
“You will take me to the female at this moment. I do need to divulge information to you. The Queen's order is to retrieve the woman.” Uril said.
The leader of the Humm people did not back down so easily. Yes, Uril is the leader of the queen’s guard, but he is not their king.
“It is stated that we, as the people of this planet, can inquire as to the purpose of a queen's wishes if it is not clear as to why it should be done, " the leader said as he challenged Uril.
Uril temper started to rise. He knew of the rules, and to explain why his queen wished to have this woman infuriated him.
“The queen has had a vision of a golden one being born to your people. She wishes it to be born in the palace. No harm will come to the female,” Uril said. The leader of the Humm people nodded and said, “We shall take you to our females.” The leader shape-shifted back into his bird form.
Uril followed in his massive bird form and landed a mile from where they had their conversation. He walked around all the women and noticed one carrying the mark on her neck. She was chosen to carry the next golden one.
Maline did not know why the queen’s guard had chosen her to return to the palace. She was close to bringing forth the child, and pangs of pain started to appear. Uril noticed how she held her side. He knew he needed to hurry.
“She is the one,” Uril told the Humm leader. The leader seemed to have puffed up his chest in pride. “Maline is carrying my offspring. Since she will bring forth the next golden one, he will have my strength flowing in his veins. He will not let our people down.”
Uril bowed, transformed into the enormous black bird, and carried Marlin to the palace.
