Across the Expanse

Stillness holds me
The expanse between us overwhelms
An enormity of impossibility
Leaving me absolutely
Shooting stars shoot past
And I know this loneliness will always last

You whisper across time
Subtle echoes reverberate
Keeping me awake until late
I hold onto promises long since made
Like small diamonds scattered wide and far
Maybe they can heal this lifelong scar?

Yet the line is broken
Everything has vanished into atmosphere
My sunken eyes state upward
I’m aware I’m standing in the middle of nowhere

Echos again swirl in amongst the trade winds
I smell your scent so faintly
It evaporates with each precious moment
Alone …
Standing here seems like a tragic lament

Stillness surrounds

I see a million miles
