Meredith had been my constant companion for months now. As much as I tried to get rid of her she keeps wanting to snuggle next to me. For a young kitten I would think she would want to play around the castle with those other five older cats roaming around. I’ve never had any children of my own, however I would not have allowed my kids to barge into my room when I am in a compromised position. The first time she did that I kicked her out as Jane chuckled on the bed. Eventually I gave up on shooing her away. I don’t know how she manages to slip into my room to watch me get fucked every time …Kittens.

“Look at her eyes. I swear she is sniggering at me,” I sighed.

“Well, I’m going to leave you two to sort this out,” Jane said before she jumped out of bed and was about to put on her night gown and leave. She always leaves when she is done with me. Jane almost always laughs at my dry humor but not this time. “Why?” She was concerned. “Aren’t you getting enough sleep?”

“How could I get sleep with you two around?”

This time Jane managed a snicker. “Me I understand, but Meri can’t possibly be the culprit. So what is it?”

“I don’t know,” I tried to brush that aside. “I’ve been having some awkward dreams lately,” I tried to explain. “I’m sure it’s nothing.”

“Care to tell me about those dreams?” Jane settled on the edge of the bed as Meredith snuggled in her lap. Now they were both waiting for me to spill. Damn!!! Now there are four eyes I have to contend with.

“Okay, okay… I am not much into dreams. Heck I haven’t had a decent dream since I hit puberty. All of a sudden I’ve been hackled with one every single night ever since that thing came into my life.” I was referring to that ginger kitten or probably the bigger one holding her. They were both about to scratch my eyes out if I don’t tell them more.

“Okay, Okay… I’ve been having dreams about my mother.”

“But what does Meri have to do with it?”

“Because in every single one of those dreams that fucking kitten was sitting on my mother’s lap.”

“Mmmm… that is interesting,” Jane reacted. “Tell me more…”

“Why?… Why is it interesting?” Now I was worried. “Am I loosing my mind here? It sure as hell sounds like it.”

“Please continue,” an order wrapped in pleasantries. I had no choice. I had to continue.

“Okay, Okay… I’ve been seeing my mother in all sorts of situations… One as she was holding my father’s hand. Another as she was holding a cup of tea while Meri was in her lap…”

“Mmmm… that is interesting,” Jane reacted once again.

“WILL YOU STOP SAYING THAT,” I bursted out. “YOU are not helping here.”

“I’m trying to.”

“Don’t tell me you are a shrink as well,” I was being sarcastic.

“No but I do have a minor in phycology.” Now that, I did not expect. Now I was going to be dissected in addition to getting fucked. Suddenly I felt afraid.

“Okay, Okay… so what do all those dreams mean?” I was trying to get her into a corner. Let’s see how she gets out of this.

“Well, for starters your dreams are trying to tell you something,” Jane began to get out of this. “There is usually a common thing with recurring dreams. You have to figure out what this thing is.” Holy crap !!! she got out of it with flying colors. I’m toast.

“Okay, okay… so what do I do?”

“Close your eyes and try to remember,” she ordered so I did. “What is it that you think is a common occurrence in your dreams?”

“Meri,”

“Other than the cat?” Jane probed some more.

“Mother,”

“Other than Mimi?” Jane asked. “What was it that caught your eyes when you saw your mother? What was she doing? What was she saying? What was she wearing?…”

Suddenly it all snapped in place and I remembered, “Holy Shit, my mothers wedding ring.”

“Mimi’s wedding ring?” Jane was surprised as much as I was. “I’ve never seen her wear a wedding ring before. Do you remember what it looked like?”

“Yes.”

“Have you seen it before?” Jane asked.

“No.”

“Then that is what you have to look for.”
