So Many Concerns
Made a lane change in the argument
Slight miscalculation of what was said
Saw the fist making it’s usual descent
Punches connected like bolts of dread
Rage always seems to claim her face
Light is eclipsed in transforming eyes
The calm before the darkest embrace
When she removes her normal disguise
Soon all the anger will go into remission
Ride out the storm until reason returns
Knowing how to remedy this condition
Her love comes with so many concerns

Author's Note
Late night musing. My brother is a good man. That being said he dated one woman that was violent and would randomly explode into fits and punch him. He would have to ride out the storm by, blocking, weaving, and basically bear-hugging her till she ran out of steam. He never struck her in anyway, and I witnessed a couple when they were living with me for a bit. Luckily he didn't end up with her, although he did have to relocate to another State for about six months. It's very real, folks. And most guys say nothing because of ridicule and not being believed by authorities. I've seen cases where men have got messed up or killed. Appreciate you.

We have so many common stories Damian, same thing was happening with my cousin, I am against violence of any kind and exactly the same, he would confide in me as we were extremely close but no one else because of the stigma attached, it doesn't happen to Men, anyways gladly, he got away and is in a better place ❤️

Heavy issues here. I had a cousin like this. Same type of situation. I've seen the woman once turn from sweet to sour in like seconds. Crazy shit. The poem is well written, accurate through your eyes and just so real and raw. Nice job.

It's a great topic you touch here. There's still this stigma that men are the abuser in domestic violence cases. Though women can be equally or even more abusive. For men it's harder to report it, due to shame and said stigma. Same goes for sexual abuse of men.
Makes me wonder (regardless of what I think of the MeToo movement) if there's a movement for men too? We have a long way to go to equality. Great piece, Damian, thanks for sharing. I appreciate you.

Your poem clarifies that anyone who is in a relationship that suffers from rage or a bad temper can be an abuser, whether man or woman. Recognizing those red flags early might help avoid a bad circumstance. I've heard of men being abused by their wives before. Many don't want to speak out for fear of looking weak.

Very good topic. I had a friend whose wife, now ex use to get off in getting him angry so he would attack back. It was like a weird aphrodisiac. ( I thought and still do that she did not know how to handle her emotions of wanting to be with a man without it being abusive)
He filed for divorce because it was getting to the point, he could not even recognize who he was becoming.

I was very young seventeen when my ex hit me... I am very intense and my words are sharp but I would never hit anyone I have anger from past lives I'm sure but I do my best to write about it and not let it show that being said my demeanor can be fierce even when I think it is well under control I feel bad for anyone who is abused there is quiet game playing abuse too that someone fighting an internal battle can suffer at the hands of a group...
