Mummified
He wrote for 70 days
before he got started
a single love note
within each single strip
Obsessed with the process
inoculation for preservation
of my hollowed body
with white linen
My tortured love
gently handles me
with black gloves
and quiet care
His mummified bride
leaving my heart inside
because it's aorta pipes once
played music to the tone of an organ
So wherever I go
I'll be a big fabric star
spilling into the afterlife
with trails of cloth for him to follow
Over 100 yards of
meticulous wrapping
especially over my heart
where it's slightly tighter, overlapping
Nourishment for my dry heart
not one single crevice
is shown of my natron skin
each strap smoothed over
And sealed with a
single electric kiss
and I swear
my dead heart
almost skipped a beat
before he got started
a single love note
within each single strip
Obsessed with the process
inoculation for preservation
of my hollowed body
with white linen
My tortured love
gently handles me
with black gloves
and quiet care
His mummified bride
leaving my heart inside
because it's aorta pipes once
played music to the tone of an organ
So wherever I go
I'll be a big fabric star

Was thinking of all of the black and white classics - not to
mention the modern movie The Mummy with Brendan Fraser that is totally awesome!!

Brilliantly written, Adelphina. Into the list it belongs. Flawlessly executed. Appreciate you.

Hi Damian!
Dude, I love the word mummified. It kept
floating around in my head so I had to put it to paper.
Thanks for the RL amigo!

Hi Pete!
I love writing towards a buildup. The ending is where you leave the
reader so it should always have an impact. Just my opinion:)
Good, bad or WTF just happened. hahaha

Ooh, just the right amount of creepy.
I really enjoyed these two stanzas. Superb poem, Adelphina. You almost make me want to like Halloween.

Hi Mary:)
I love to balance creepy with just a bit of romance. I love all those scary movies that are kind of beautiful in a way. Like The Haunting of Bly Manor on Netflix. One of my favorite romantic horror movies.

Re. Mummified
This is so brilliant! So so clever and not scary at all. I just think about you wrapped up in a sheet, on the back patio... Maybe I'm your victim and I don't realise it yet?
And it's pretty awesome that our recent writes match up with each other's a bit. And we had no idea what the other was writing. We were clicking!
What a great write, baby. Very clever and super interesting.
You're never boring!

thank you!!
I like to change things up a bit - as you know:)
Even bed sheets!! Especially when I come for a visit.
Expect Christmas tree sheet sets buddy! hahaha
Maybe some Halloween pumpkin sets too!
We do - it's so fun when checking each other's writes out
like they are presents. Not knowing what the other is writing makes it the best surprise!!
Love you babe - and I'm digging the pic big sexy!!!

You gave me the idea of Elivra!!
I used to watch her late night horror movies when I was
younger. haha
Again, your idea:)
I don't get to dress up much for Halloween, so I use the avatar as way of expression!

What a stunning write with a dark vibe.
"My tortured love
gently handles me
with black gloves
and quiet care" > love the imagery in this stanza.
Amazing piece, truly enjoyed this one.

Personally speaking, I think this is one of your best. The right amount of film noir, reflection, and the residue of horror.
Excellent job, Del.

Hey Tim!!
The word mummified just wouldn't let me sleep. I did some research on the process and came up with this write. It always took seventy days!!. I even researched how much linen they would use!! LOL
thanks for your snaps on this write. Wasn't sure if I should post but I went for it since it was Halloween:)
Thanks for the RL!!
Yayeeee

Oh shitballls, this was beautifully noir. The opening was AH may zing. The fact the subject obsessed over the object with such intensity, and the way she's an untouchable creature.
And (sigh) her dead heart almost beat for him
IT'S ROMANCE. It's fatal and lovely shit. YES! Loved it.

Hey Betty!!
I was in a mood this October!! haha
Dabbling in some darker writing and trying to make it lovely at the same time. I did my research and came up with this.
Did you know the only organ left in the body was the heart?
I thought that was interesting, so I tied it into this write.
It gave me a Nine Inch Nails vibe when writing.
I'm so happy you enjoyed:)
Glad to see you onsite too!

Hi LDF:)
thank you for that!
I wanted it to have that haunted vibe. Living people
can haunt just as easily as ghosts.
I had a scene in my head, and I needed to write it out.
Thanks for the RL!!
