Slice Through Me
Shaped like an artichoke
with many folds to lay bare,
concealing my core.
Just slice through me slowly,
and I’ll let you peel off my bracts,
unveil what’s hidden inside.
I’m yearning for your delicate blade
to explore my depths,
for me to feel known.
Yet it’s only a matter of which layer
will tire you out first,
before you grow weary of me.
Discard my unlovable remnants,
for me to assemble and mend,
for someone else to rip apart.
All over again.
with many folds to lay bare,
concealing my core.
Just slice through me slowly,
and I’ll let you peel off my bracts,
unveil what’s hidden inside.
I’m yearning for your delicate blade
to explore my depths,
for me to feel known.
Yet it’s only a matter of which layer
will tire you out first,
before you grow weary of me.
Discard my unlovable remnants,
for me to assemble and mend,
for someone else to rip apart.
All over again.
