Chill like I'm old

I want to walk slowly through the park
Let sitting quietly chase away the dark
I don't care what we are told
I am still young, but I'll chill like I'm old

If I start now to learn to rest
I'm certain I'll pass the old age test
To still have joy when my energy's low
For in stillness we learn, and in stillness we grow

I don't want to wait til I'm old to see
The beauty of a still standing tree
To seek fun and excitement is what we are sold

But I don't care, I will chill like I'm old

Author's Note
I am 38 years old and thus still fairly young, but I don't want to wait until I'm 50, 60 or 70 to learn how to pace myself and conserve my energy. Why do we need to be old to slow down and learn to sit still and enjoy the silence, or to walk slowly through nature? We don't. The earlier we learn it, the better.
