Peeling The Layers Back
Innocence remains hidden behind a mask
Viewing life through some distorted mirror
Taught not to take everything at face value
Peeling layers back till it’s all made clearer

So so true Damian, I know it's an old cliche, I guess sometimes it's human nature... I've always gone by no matter what a person looks like or they seem sad that person will have a story ❤️

So many layers my friend. I don't even know how many layers I actually have. Great, truthful poem.

So true! In fact, sometimes a lot of pain hides behind the biggest smille. If only people would stop looking at how someone appears to be and ask how they are really doing.
The world be a more beautiful place. Great piece, Damian.

Dear D,
This makes me think if we ever peel away all the layers? Do we keep some layers in place for self preservation? I can never tell. However, I enjoyed this poem greatly. You so wonderfully express emotion with terrific meter and word placement. Lovely write. H🌷

Thanks so much for reading, H. I would think we would keep some in place, otherwise we'd be to exposed to all the elements. Always enjoy your commentary. Appreciate you.
