Reflections in Shattered Glass

I saw you through a prism, bright,
A figure of warmth, a guiding light,
Each laugh a melody, each word a thread,
In your embrace, I felt hopes widespread.

Yet as the seasons turned their page,
The colors dulled, revealing a stage,
Where smiles masked questions, and silence grew wide,
In moments of closeness, I felt pushed aside.

I let you in, hoping to mend,
A mother wound with a heart to lend,
But as I opened, you turned away,
Leaving me fragile, lost in dismay.

It’s not the first time this heart has bled,
Each layer peeled back, each promise said,
I've lost so much in this winding dance,
The echoes of trust turned to emptiness, chance.

In the echoes of laughter, I feel the sting,
Of moments that shattered, of hopes on a string,
I reach for the pieces, but they slip away,
For you never knew me, not even today.

Now I face this grief, a heavy embrace,
Mending my spirit, reclaiming my place,
With each step I take, I’ll learn to be free,
Finding strength in my scars, discovering me.
