prequel of the storm to come
fractured light in all directions
destruction cannot be undone

Stretched upon a grave of hope
anticipated future not in the cards
reflection in a mirror shattered
blood-stained razored shards

Burning in ashes of the aftermath
amid carnage and catastrophe
drenched in tears not meant to shed
blinded, unable to see

Holding breath as to not feel
mourning in mists of red
struggling with a hungry grief  
essence of profound dread

Simmering in muddled pools of pain
deadened spirit spirals down
taste of sorrow floats on the tongue
slowly sinking, beginning to drown

Senses numb inside the abyss
all light has been concealed
mind is dark and vision blurry
