Far from shore
Waves rose
Obscuring the land
Treading water…
Uncertainty increasing
Hope was drifting
Much like her

She had hoped for more
Once dreamt such highs
This was no blip
There was no way back
Luck was out of season
Chance was not on her side
Her predicament seemed insurmountable
She closed her eyes

Currents from below
Pulled her ever so slowly
She relinquished her resolve
Made peace with her failings
Allowing the sea to take her whole
Slipping…
