The Other Me

I see her in the mirror,
Her smile a shade too wide,
Eyes that echo mine, yet hollow,
With secrets tucked inside.

She moves in time, but lingers,
Her step just out of sync,
as if she's waiting for a sign
To sever our fragile link.

Her fingers twitch, just slightly wrong,
Not quite mine but close,
A shiver runs down through my spine,
as her reflection grows.

She mouths the words I never spoke,
A silent threat, a plea,
That when the moon climbs high tonight,
She’ll trade her place with me.

And when I slip beneath the sheets,
Her shadow will uncoil,
She’ll wear my skin, my breath, my name—
While I fade into the void.
