Poison and Flame
There is a serpent, and there is a dragon,
They bargain for mind and heart,
With tongues and scales,
Through shedding skin and ashes,
Broken promises of euphoria.
In their witching hour,
Hypnotic, manic induction,
Feverishly driven,
A temptation and tease,
Replaces abundance.
With the moon behind the sun,
As shadows darken,
Purpose is plundered,
Through fascination,
A wondrous curiosity.
Stubborn and boneheaded,
The battle with eternal conviction,
Control and choice are abandoned,
With intention and motive,
Serving justified immorality.
Infesting the inner and outer being,
Flame and poison spirit,
In return for the penalty due,
Torturous stimuli reinforcing,
Unrelenting cycles of abuse.
Temporary risk takes over,
Pushes one over the edge,
As an accursed and corrupt,
Warping delusion of ego,
Becomes eyes like daggers.
As a thief in question,
Satirical cynicism jests,
Hosting an ironic hoax,
Turning trust into a paradox,
From which there is no one
Trickery and captivity,
Cheating one's hands,
Plays misfortune with every move,
Like certain odds are predictable,
In serpentine death.
With pressure to breathe,
Too late to heal,
A graven sight,
Certain grey area of betrayal,
Indignant when numb.
Longing and yearning for change,
Elohim calls out for repentance,
As balance, judgement, and wisdom,
Identify in Christ to save,
Through baptism, prayer, and Passover.
They bargain for mind and heart,
With tongues and scales,
Through shedding skin and ashes,
Broken promises of euphoria.
