Halloween

And when spooky month is near.
We dress in costumes and produce fear.
We wear costumes,special gear.

To chase all the bad spirits away.
In order to collect as much candy as possible.
Knocking on the door, walking down the path.

We collect candy,a sweet delight.
Whether you are dressed as a vampire.
Or if you are dressed as a monster.

An egyptian mummy, makes people run faster.
In this town we call home.
Let's all sing along to the pumpkin song.

Jack'o'lanterns, orange and green.
With a light,a candle it's been.
This is the day of the spooky holiday.

All children dressed up in glee.
Dressed scary,cute.
Trick or treating with me.

Trick or treat, will you give me a treat?
Or will you accept defeat and get a trick?
In the trashcan, you see  a monster.

And you begin to run faster.
In the night of Halloween, monsters, fears come alive.
In the dark,brooding night.

The moon is up in the sky.
Witches,flying on brooms.
Or corpses,dead grooms.

And everyone is waiting for the new surprise.
As fireworks shoot up and explode in the skies.
Skeletons will jump out and make you scream.

Witches will have slimy,green skin.
Boys and girls of all ages.
Will hang out,dressed as mages.

I am the one,in the wind when you ask, ""Who's there?"".
I am a clown you found at a carnival fair.
I am your shadow in the night of Halloween.

Monsters corner you.
You break their curse with a spell.
As you are dressed as a powerful mage well.

And life's no good without a good scare.
You will walk on the dark streets and ask, who's there?
Is what you see a lie?

Did you dream away and fly?
Your fear,it bewitches.
Brooms with powerful witches.

A monster covered in stitches.
A vampire with low voice pitches.
This is Halloween, everybody let out a scream!

As you watch horror movies on a huge TV screen.
Because we live for the thrill.
You drink punch at a costume party with a refill.

Masks, costumes - we take them off at the end.
And fear becomes your friend.
Everyone bow to the pumpkin king.

And fear fills your entire being.

Author's Note
A poem about upcoming Halloween. Inspired off ""This Is Halloween"" from The Nightmare Before Christmas.
""They say on this day we feel fright.
As we walk in the dread of the dark night.
But fear became our very friend.
And we no longer felt terrified again.""
