Dear God, From the Devil

Dear God

don’t tell me what my truth is
I won’t question yours
if you don’t question mine
speaking of which
feels like we’re losing time
spreading diseases
and holding on to grudges
so what is the source of your rage?
is it this need to be right
is this what you think the people want?
a world controlled by force

bring in the lion and the lamb
for we can spill blood, pointlessly
yeah, I get it
we’re living in a big boy’s world
still, all this death
seems so final
we’re not playing with toys
I’ve grown, haven’t you?
so can’t you just be you
and I be me?

those floods
can it really be?
the tears from your eyes
what hurts you?
was it the disappointment
the children that let you down
give them a break
you didn’t show them much guidance
and it’s not like they didn’t pray
so desperate they turn to a mad man
I’m just saying
there has to be a better way

from Devil
with love
