I haven’t felt closer to great poets
than when I heard that Dylan Thomas
liked to eat sweets and consume detective stories
in the bath. To where his wife would hide
the books in hope that he’d sit down to work instead.
I may never write an Under Milk Wood,
but I’ll be reading classic crime
with dolly mix until I’m dead.

We all need to be reminded sometimes that geniuses are really just people who are exceptionally talented at something. It doesn't mean they aren't normal people, they are just normal people with a particularly strong talent in one area (or sometimes multiple areas).

That’s a great suggestion, thank you. I think I was too focused on making sure each line had an even number of syllables and opened on an iamb.
