Merchants of ire

Amplified silence
Stinging to the ears
The hollow depth of disgrace
Is pungent and raw
Unkempt desires afflicting the vessel
Knickknacks and pleasantries know no concept of distraction
I am lain out in the dark
Seething—
and tempered
Visions of denial jerk at the chains of capacity
Old memories stain the iris
No second chances to calcify the bone
I’m hardened—
by a taint of depravity that tickles my tongue
