Image for the poem chance

chance

salty sultans of the deep and cold abyss
here my prayer oh heavens and let my doubtful demons sleep
I am of an ancient magic
a siren soothing the unrest of tridents
I seek no golden halo or ring
my clan returned is treasure enough

in the forgotten tongue, I chant
oh silver ice I raise a chalice full of wine to my lips
offering you rest on your alpha shore
it's been a long journey of understanding
he offers you sustenance and warmth at his table

I am immortal but flawed
my beauty lies in my imperfections
I would that you regail with me your tale
and how you beat the mighty storms
that delayed your way to Vahalla

Odin opens its gates for your rest
but if you are of the mind your brother offers you exotic women
the likes you've never seen before
but be on guard they are charming yet cunning

prepare your minds brothers a game of chance is afoot
your lives are not on the line but you may lose your heart
do you fancy a jigg or dance
come the masquerade awaits
