little imagination you read me but don't get it
a force to deal with, burning with feeling
arrogant of heart my pride was tested
still inherently me, some the wiser

love is not one-sided, it is multifaceted
don't judge the family dynamics, I am needed
interloper with no conscience
you say, love, I see someone working a man and his lusts

my kindness for him knows no bounds
with understanding I treat him
I've protected him over the years in more ways than one

for now, he treats you special
what use for you will he have if I wasn't in the picture
will you be satisfied when he starves you for affections?

you're an addict and looks fade
he's a man of diverse appetites
I owe you nothing

trying to see beauty in everything
I was nice to you
never quite trusting your smile
finding out it was false on your face

your laugh contrived
mimicking a past lover
