don't be so careless
My heart hurts
at your careless words
and I can't make you see things
in a different light
You are and always have been
your own North Star
even when the clouds
block you out
and you can't see where you're going
You say I am the Earth
and you are my moon
yet I swear I navigate
the space around you
with too much care
for your feelings
and not enough care for mine
And this feels like the folly of love
to be always losing
at the mercy of moods and gravity
that weigh more than my own
in the moment
Because I always thought love
should taste like freedom
but all I've found here
are callous words
empty breath
and no space
in a universe built for two
at your careless words
and I can't make you see things
in a different light
You are and always have been
your own North Star
even when the clouds
block you out
and you can't see where you're going
You say I am the Earth
and you are my moon
yet I swear I navigate
the space around you
with too much care
for your feelings
and not enough care for mine
And this feels like the folly of love
to be always losing
at the mercy of moods and gravity
that weigh more than my own
in the moment
Because I always thought love
should taste like freedom
but all I've found here
are callous words
empty breath
and no space
in a universe built for two
