Escape

Can I run far until all fades?
Life this empty cascade,
A void of hatred,
No more pain.
Soon we see light.
Visions of joy upon our faces.

A day so fleeting,
Wounds no more overtake.
Tears dry,
No more crying,
Eventually we die.

I long for the time,
Where my flesh is replaced,
Ghostly figures,
No more shame,
I just want freedom,
Relief from pain.

I need the escape,
I desire the void,
Leaping off into air,
Without fear into space.
Absence of noise.
Lacking despair.

Someday this day will arrive,
I’ll be left with regrets,
That I didn’t live,
But inside I was dead.

Author's Note
For most of my life, I had my autonomy denied to me by my mother. I found myself desiring death but upon writing this, I felt the deep need to begin living and fight for a life I desire. This is an awakening.
