I don't need salt to know where it hurts

For my confession I don't need a church,
I don't need salt to know where it hurts.
I know clearly the pain of watching you love someone else,
As our love fades away like grains of salt.

In the silence, my heart finds its speech,
In the echoes of what we can't reach.
The shadow of your smile, once bright and close,
Now a whisper, a memory, an eternal ghost.

In the twilight of our past,
I feel you fade away,
Our memories becoming a longing pain,
I don't need salt to know where it hurts.

As dusk claims the day, our love's last ray,
I sense you drift away, a specter in the fray.
Our past, a tapestry of tender moments spent,
Now fades to threads, in sorrow's silent lament.

I don't need salt to know where it hurts.
My wound is bare, deep and wide open.
No matter how much I try to reach,
I see how much of you I can never get.

Your heart belongs to another,
I'm just an ember wishing for your fire.
only to be quenched out by the truth of your true desire.

for my confession I don't need a church,
I don't need salt to know where it hurts.
