Consequences

If I don't get my summer school lesson plans done,
the supervising teacher will punch me in the face
The principal
will rescind my next year's teaching contract.
I'll be arrested
detained
and publicly hanged.
 
If I don't finish my Arizona required course by June 21st
I will have to pay the $167 myself
I'll lose my teaching license
My cat will starve
I'll be evicted,
live under a bridge,
and never get to do anything fun
ever, ever again
 
if I don't complete my lease renewal today
-even though I have until June 20th -
I'll lose the apartment I love
I'll be forced to move into a roach-infested dump with three roommates,  
and have to put my initials on every bag of frozen edamame
 
If I don't control my anxiety
I'll have more to worry about
Why did I have to think of that?
Now I won't sleep for days
I'll fall asleep snoring at the Smartboard.
My students will film it
and a new viral video wil be born
People in public will point and laugh at me
Anyone new who meets me will say "You're the snoring lady!"
and I'll be nothing but a joke
until my painful, untimely demise
and what if there really is a hell?
I haven't been a bad person
Have I?
