LITTLE WET FEET (4-28-1988; walking in the rain at the AZALEA TRAIL PARK, near Fickle Hill, Arcata, California)
as i walk listening
to thoughts that come and go
thoughts which take
brief refuge
from this sudden
unexpected
gentle falling rain s
delicate delight
as it s countless
little wet feet
dance so lightly
so sweetly
so intimately here
upon my joyously receptive face
their happy free dance
of life itself
and upon the leaves
of all these naked
green plants and trees
everywhere here
surrounding me
wherein i see and hear
the happy joyous free dance
and feel the vital
naturally euphoric
pranic freedom
of my free wet head
from all these countless
dancing
little wet feet
outside here
in this peacefully serene
baptismal healing dance
of and in
all this
gentle falling rain
as i walk listening
i hear the living voice
and constant presence
of great spirit great mystery
in the flit and whir
of hummingbird s wings
just as i do everywhere
in the sight the sound
the touch the smell
the feel of everything
here around me
where i am now
so fully surrendered to
this joyous gently falling rain s
sweet delicate dance of life
like little wet feet
upon my openly receptive face
as birds sing
like heaven coming
on rain dropped feathers
their tongues trill in little beaks
such beautiful songs
to fill my heart and senses
to lift my spirit high
as their songs spill freely
forth and out
they seem to be singing
all hearts are brothers
and sisters with we
as i tune in more deeply
peace fills me more completely
as i increasingly further awaken
i more clearly more intimately
begin to sense
see hear and feel
the old ways speaking
within me to me
as my heart more widely opens
as my free spirit
more vibrantly expands to soar
i too continue to
more fully more freely rejoice
outside here in the ever wondrous magic
of this delicately graceful
beautiful living day
where i am so open heartedly
joyously receiving
the invigorating primal feeling
of all these countless
little wet feet
ecstatically dancing
upon my happy face
outside here
in this sudden unexpected
wonderfully refreshing
gloriously life giving
life confirming freedom
of this gentle falling rain
still ever so lightly dancing
upon my openly receptive face
and open heart as well
as i quietly
continue on my way
moving fluidly attuned along
onward throughout
the rest of this
still unfolding
lightly sprinkling
rainy day
wherein
as i continue
walking on down
this unknown road ahead
outside here
in this beautiful
somewhat heavenly
little place
in this gentle
lightly falling
sprinkling rain
as i walk on
i simply
continue to do so
more consciously tuned in
with my spirit
being filled and fed
by everything
i hear i smell
i feel i see
as i walk on
a little further
a little deeper
into this
still unfolding
lightly sprinkling
rainy day
i walk on
ever
listening
for life s
incessant
call
