When Thinking...
When was the day
Do you remember
Where you decided to turn it off
It had to start small
Surely
Your anger
Should that
It
Be called
As you grew
Did you turn your cheek
Did you repeat
What they told you to repeat
When did you decide
Between happiness
And madness
Pretending
Was it ever a question?
Was there ever a different understanding?
Similies.
For what did one pay
For blissful ignorance?
Was it the same
The feeling at the end
That life was never profound
Where there was no purpose
To the collective sound
You killed each other
Over a playground
The little wars
In microscopic
Terraforms
In small plastic glasses
We oversaw
But learned nothing more
And as rats in a cage
We fight for resource
Against each other
Against all odds
And we blame the rich
We blame the poor
But in the end
Sentience perpetuates war
Do you remember
Where you decided to turn it off
It had to start small
Surely
Your anger
Should that
It
Be called
As you grew
Did you turn your cheek
Did you repeat
What they told you to repeat
When did you decide
Between happiness
And madness
Pretending

Was there ever a different understanding?
