I’ve come across today
a photograph
I took in 1984
of long lost Gilda Lee

And there she stares at me
with adoration in her eyes

To my surprise
In seeing this
my breath is stilled
and I’m now  made to be
by memory
heart sore.

Despite how in  the passing years
since then
I’ve taught myself to put the beast,
desire for her,
to sleep.
I'm now, if only momentarily
a weak-kneed man
so utterly unclosed,
undone.
