You used to take pride
in your appearance

tired and puffy eyed

I understand some women
thicken up a bit as they get older

I think it belongs in the 'angst' category, to be honest. I really don't mean to be rude, Abra, but this strikes me more as just a catalogue of misogynistic stereotypes and insults than verse. I love your work, but this came across as just nasty and mean-spirited.

I think you may have missed the point, Jack - in that I am trying to expose stereotypical male attitudes in a relationship for what they are. It is a vile series of statements - none of which I would personally agree with. A bullied wife would get this straightaway. But nonetheless your reaction is valued - and as always I appreciate your feedback.

I put this piece in LOVE because I think it reflects the trials & pain which that category covers. If people want to judge me by what I write I can't stop that. Of course, those who know me better would tell you it's usually not first person material. If I'd done everything I've written about in person I'd already be dead from exhaustion.
