Magic Deer

I was habitually lost
in a muck of random thoughts.
I approached the open front door.
My heart was magically floored.
A big deer stood close to the porch.
Head on he stared gently at me.
Into me, through me.
A creature of equal strength and grace.
Could he be memorizing my face?
Or was it the fresh flowers,
that he wanted a taste?
Poised motionless,
for what seemed so long.
He sprang forth into the back woods,
but the magic was not gone.
No need for a single human word.
A spiritual peace was formed.
And while I slept, nested in bed,
the fresh flowers lost their heads.

Author's Note
This really happened except the deer hasn't munched
on the flowers......yet. 😊 🦌
