No Circus Circus for Me, You Dumb Clown

The PE teacher
is a bit of a lunkhead.

Didn't get offered a contract for next year,
but still think he can advise me on classroom management.

He also thinks he can advise me on hotels in Vegas.

A good one starts at around $300 a night he crows
I look at him quizzically
Well, I mean for couples, he clarifies
You're single
You can stay somewhere like Excalibur
or Circus Circus.

Had the conversation continued
he'd likely have factored in my age
and downgraded me to the Circus Circus Motor Lodge
which has a solid reputation of being grossly overpriced
at something like $23 a night.

Some may believe single women of a certain age
deserve paper thin walls,
urine-stained bedspreads,
and the toenail parings of former guests
on worn, moldy carpet

I disagree

On my next trip to Las Vegas,
my room will be a peaceful island
in a sea of sparkling lights

And I guarantee you,
it will cost far less
than $300 a night.
