Identity

Alone through choice, through time, geography,
but communality in memory,
there is a strong urge to alienate,
but opposite wish not to isolate.
There must be some magic suspending life,
there must be some forces preventing strife,
coincidence can spark off trains of thought,
peace found at times, just as was always sought.
Advanced in years and still so quite naïve -
such mystery - uncertain to believe,
no wish to run the show, or be in charge,
but wish for change, present stasis to barge.
Labels of left and right, useless flotsam,
just like psychiatric terms of jetsam,
all words seem taken, no remaining space,
so difficult to find persona, place.
