Patient's Protest

I have a problem.
Let us start with that.
A severe psychiatric disability.

I don’t particularly wish to share too much…
but…
Care in the Community…

I prefer society to hospital,
although of both I do not know
which prefers me least.

If only the tablets and injections…
would, so to speak…
have desired effect…

I’ve tried my own solutions,
treating fire with fire,
balanced trick of alchemy.

But then some years ago and still…
the haloperidol…
straitjacket of psychiatry…

Some individuals care,
some others shun,
then psychiatric drugs may stun.

Punishment not treatment…
depot of haloperidol…
I make the claim it hurts the soul…

This crash test dummy,
impacts to its head,
surely lost the thread.

Disinhibition, chaos…
stark insanity…
a state none would pity…

I fear The Lord
but I ask our Saviour
‘Is a damaged psyche an excuse?’

I will perish…
nothing else is certain…
He may answer me…

Now the doctor’s rule is law,
all else futility,
and he’s prescribing isolation, inactivity.

Their prescriptions…
They’ve not been kind…
has psychiatric system claimed my life and mind?
