Lovely Day
It starts the way most things do
You’re looking at her, and she’s looking at you
First you’re friends, and then so much more
You say to yourself, “this’ll be different then before”
Whirlwind romance, like a dream
Something new round ever corner, nothing’s ever what it seems
Glad this happened before you died, if it didn’t, you’d be dead
Or far away from here, instead
The taste of pleasure’s so good
Feeling out of body, never thought that you could
From the top of your head, straight down to your toes
Thought it was a joke, but now you know
So fast, you won’t know where you’ve been
Could never have even guessed it all could end
But as soon as she came, she walked straight out the door
Then you say to yourself, “not very different then before”
No evidence, she left nothing behind
And you can swear she stole part of your mind
Now you’re half-gone, and sleeping in late
Because today, you just cannot face
The time just stood so still
It moved straight past you, then over the hill
You can’t get it back, no matter how hard you try
So stop looking in the mirror and asking yourself why
Out of body in a whole different sense
And the darkness beneath the skin is so brooding and immense
But you need to cut it out and find your place
So you take a step backwards, and try to retrace
Well, at least the memories will stick like glue
And the fact that someone loved you brings comfort to you
Then it ends with you both looking away
Looking for another lovely day
You’re looking at her, and she’s looking at you
First you’re friends, and then so much more
You say to yourself, “this’ll be different then before”
Whirlwind romance, like a dream
