Sometiimes we are so focused on being good human beings to everyone around us that we forget to be good to ourselves and we suffer for it. Self love is not selfish.

I have seen it work for people that I know firsthand. I am still working on self love. I find it a most challenging endeavour. I have heard it said that you have to love yourself before you can experience a true love from someone else.
My experience shows that to be true. When you dont love yourself, care for yourself or respect yourself, your self esteem suffers. Your feelings of worth are low. You open yourself up to being treated badly and being taken advantage of because you are lucky to have anyone at all that will grace you with their presence. There is no peace in putting up with someone else's bullshit and bad behavior because you don't think you deserve better.
