(Words to a classical music composition)
Oh, memory of your heartache
Has left me broken and lovesick
Lost in the nights we spent
Our love so pure it torments
Breathing of love you broke
In a single stroke
Oh my love, morning light has never lied
To have you back I will swallow my pride
Wish you were closer by my side
To see the love my heart can not hide
That promise has washed away in my mind
In my heart, in my soul left behind

Note:
A couple of days ago the most talented poetess, The Lady of the Word herself, "HER" asked me to do a challenging collaboration. Of course being the humble servant that I am I accepted her challenge.
After a long search I came up with an idea of putting words to a classical melody. The melody I chose is a song composed in 1947 by one of the greatest Arabic composer of the past century. His name was “Farid al-Atrash”. Many of his tunes are in the classical hall of fame along with Beethoven and Mozart.
I was looking for a tune which had two components to it or two melodies … the first sad … the second a little upbeat. If you listen closely you will find that in the middle of the tune the composer switches the tone to a different melody.
I'm putting below YouTube links so you can hear the melody in its original form.
Listen to the melody.. you don't have to understand the words... try to sing the words we came up with to the tune..
The first link is the original composition sung by the composer himself.
The second link is a modern operatic form of the song also in Arabic. This tune has been sung in so many languages that many don't even know by whom it was composed.
The third link is just the tune (no words or song) played on the cellos

"HER" and I have tried to put words to this classic melody and that is what we came up with. Well, that is what she came up with... I just tweaked it a little to fit the melody....
I hope you enjoy this as much as we enjoyed working on it
