As Once I Ran To You
How hollow do I have to be
before
the
echo
of
you
fades?
How deep do I have to bury myself?
So that your dark light extrapolates
from my soul and leaves me free to
view a world with falling cherry blossoms
and soaring goshawks……
It’s said all rivers run to the sea;
(as once I ran to you)
yet you had me swimming upstream
into malevolent forests and ragged mountains
veiled in marshmallows and
the scent of cut grass
When the tide of realisation turned
you were left on the shore,
and I no longer frozen
felt the true touch of another
And I find myself wondering….
How yours ever felt warm to begin with
