Kindred

Kindred
It has been a while.
I traveled the seas
searching for a smile.
The roads were rough.
The skies were high.
You brought me back
to make you cry.

Kindred
Whatever I did
I deserve this much.
the hurt I hid
from your gentle touch
from your praying eyes
I deserve this shrug
after all my lies.

Kindred
I never meant
to make you cry.
I never dreamt
our souls were one
our hearts had sung
two words among
those scattered along.

Kindred
You have to know
I’ve never been far.
Hiding so low
in the summer sky,
among the stars
biding my time
tending my scars.

Kindred
I thought to spare
you the pain.
And not to share
my loads of shame.
My dwindling fame
should have gone
long time in flames.

Kindred
I don’t deserve
your loving care.
As much as you serve
it without a claim
without return
You don’t deserve
with me to burn.

Kindred
Just one last word.
I never did find
what I was looking for.
Maybe the one
I should have sought
was the only one.
My kindred soul.
