Burning Boats

https://tinyurl.com/44jrsseh

Rust in the basement
and the cupboard is bare
ghosts of the winter
still hiding down there
Trees bleeding spring
and the birds calling time
awakening worlds
to a first sip of wine

Like ants getting busy
before they're ready to fly
we were all too distracted
getting real with our lives
Chasing dollars while scholars
were dissed with a sigh
Just some crazy old fools
preaching gods of goodbye
and no-one believed
the seas would run dry

Old dinosaur bones
frozen in stone
warned of disaster
that fell from the sky
but no-one believed
the seas would run dry
No-one believed
the seas would run dry

The queues on the highway
all abandoned with shame
when reality bites
knowing we were to blame
Now the rivers are deserts
where nothing survives
and no-one believed
the seas would run dry
No one believed
the seas would run dry
