Echoed Trill

Mommy, they're causing me strife,
My wings, they just won't come to life.
They said it's a game we'd be playing,
But now, it's tears that I'm spraying.
Mommy, where can you be?
Mommy, come set me free.

I hear your fearful trill, it's quite a chill,
To the sound of your voice, I'm flying.
Who are they, my little one?
Don't give up, the day is not done.
As fast as I can, I'm running,
I promise to help, I’m Coming.

Mommy, they are causing me pain,
The fire on my wings, it's been slain.
I tell them it's hard to breathe, in vain,
But they keep pushing me down, like rain.
Mommy, where can you be?
Mommy, come set me free.

I see the scars of your etched heart
Let me pull you from the chest
Who did this, my little one, under the sun?
Lean on me, the fights just begun.
I'll burn the world for you, it's true,
I promise to help, it's what I'll do.

Mommy, they kept causing me strife,
The trill in me, it's no longer rife.
Mommy, why are you fading, like the day?
Why is the world also losing its way?
Mommy, where are you, in this play?
Mommy... I need you, I pray.

I see your bright blue eyes, they're closing,
The life in you, it's disappearing, receding.
Wake up, my little one, hear my voice's trill,
I'll hunt them down, it's my will.
For you, I'll fight, until you rise again,
Against the pain, against the rain.

Author's Note
This is inspired by events that happened with my 2 year old non-verbal son. He was hurt by someone he trusted. Someone we all trusted. I wasn't there to help him. I see his pain in his eyes. I pray that he soon forgets and lives a happy life!
