I Made Some Changes

I made some changes
preferring not to say 'edit'
that self important word
implying I know what I'm doing
which is funny if you know me

I made some changes
to this poem
to my life
and my outlook on living
even to my sock drawer

I have no idea
what's to come
wishing there was a user's guide
'How to write poetry in ten easy steps'
not that I'd read it anyway

I made some changes
to how I act
around mean people
or people that suck
maybe not door to door salesmen

I have no idea
if I can be a better
acting more and reacting less
writing more and rewriting less
just an undefined hope
I'm on the right path
