Reality

You might call me misguided      
rude, uncalled for, or offensive      
based on the past      
you may see no reason to respond      
     
If civility and nobility be required      
an acceptable way to take in you      
then distinctively I fail      
regretting your disdain      
     
Any path that I find successful      
is dependent on your positive regard      
and variables are always      
mine to control      
     
How the effect of my words    
rely on many things      
I can’t control my ethnicity      
nor can I consistently beat aging      
     
I can’t alter your past interactions      
with others of my gender      
and you haven’t shared      
what makes you tick      
     
I most decidedly react to garments      
you wear but that is a choice      
made independent of my guidance      
even an absolute control can’t rule      
     
And much smarter humans      
make a strong case my      
fate is guided by an unavoidable      
most basic need      
     
So let me not waste your time      
if your exclusive focus is profit      
at a most minimal cost      
in terms of personal knowledge shared      
     
I bid you the best as you go you way      
and I go mine an admirer      
but accepting because I feel      
this way doesn’t compel me to respond
