squirting the issue
diversion tactics
in order to protect
I love you, Father
but I love our child more
you want a war with me
so be it
it's odd how you switch lanes
between love and hate over me
and yes I see the Earth Quake
scared of your shadow
but you made me different
you don't fight fair
you took my rose-colored glasses
and smashed them
I made love to my prison walls
found a love in my heart
you scorn me,
rejected my affections
would you have me raise my hands in praise
when I burn with regret of you
it would be phony
I won't do it just for show
I'm not a sheep,
not a wolf
I'm just trying to exist
happy with what I've been given
I'm not Job, I complain
I am me the way you created
I am me the way you broke my heart
causing it to shatter
I love you with my soul
but you lust my torment
so it will be so

I liked the reference to Job, who despite all his misfortunes, never complained. We, on the other hand, in this time and age, are of a different breed, with a little more knowledge of the world but still trying to find out the mysteries of the past.
