Please, My Dream, do not forever stay
Only an ephemeral star
Whose ancient light filters through
light years of space dust, otherworlds and history
Only a sad reminder
of heavenly bodies once intertwined
In the distant past
Let your desire
Materialize to more
than a mere beacon in my soul
Feathering my desire
Into a fire

I need to touch your palpitations
I need to read the stories of your years
In the freckles of your skin
Be the reality of today
I need more than memories
I need you, the man, grubby with humanity
Someone to cover his mouth with me
Secreting away our morning breath
As our eyes laugh together
Appreciating that we, two, have our faults

I need reality
Not just a diamond sparkle in the night
Of lost dreams
