The Space Between

 
The loudest preacher in the world
can barely be heard
over the simple silence
of a heart believing in the divine
 
We either believe or we don't
and I understand
there is power in hope
and anger at an unjust world
 
But to condemn is a sin
not against God but against man
and that makes me mad
that we feel hate
when someone takes a stand
 
For me, I do not need to believe
I found something real
a love that heals
and spark of the divine
in the space between our lives
