The Sky Smile

 
on a warm spring day, I can touch the clouds
connected to the sky I fly into the ozone
with a blueness to welcome

I see your smile in the heavens
you blessed the earth with beauty
a lovely home, you didn't have to offer

with visions of what was to be
you designed a home for me
sent me into the world
knowing here I would learn sorrow
with the knowledge I would toil
knowing I would know love

you are very powerful
the master artist
you could have placed me in a pit
when you laid eyes on me
but you gave me mercy instead

I aspire to gain wisdom
but I am strong-willed
you tell me you love a challenge
and admonish me not to eschew correction
because you love me

I covet only one thing
that is your attention
