The Peak
She stands alone,
icicles in her hair
She stopped looking down long ago, knowing it wasn’t fair
The altitude here makes everyone ill,
The shadows laid bear of weaker will,
The shortchange hunter making cheap shot kills,
The collective many preferring a numb pill…
How can you have a friend so full of fear
How can you have a good heart be so hard to hear
How can the arrogance assign themselves as a peer
And exit their place as someone you hold dear
She stands alone,
pillows of clouds blocking the view
She can’t see the liars
Because to get here is too cruel.
My scars and scabs I wear with pride
And all my hard work my energy can’t hide
To Lower myself to feel more at home
Is to break the only vow I have ever known.
Be yourself, be pure and be true
No one can bring your ascendency but you.
