Where Is The Sun

I remember my younger days    
When I would go out and play    
The clouds were just a side effect    
And only sometimes in the way    
   
The sun shined so brightly    
And it's color so distinct    
The bright blue sky so sightly    
People and nature in perfect sync    
   
You could feel happiness and energy    
In the universe everywhere    
The community, the world, a synergy    
It was a symbiotic love affair    
   
But somehow over the course of time    
The sky it seemed to change    
Life became an uphill climb    
And people seemed deranged    
   
The sky now filled with gloom and haze    
Why did all the colors leave    
The world a victim of mindless craze    
This reciprocal thread impossible to weave    
   
What once was bright and vibrant    
Now is faded shades of gray    
We created this pollution giant    
And allowed politics along the way    
   
Now there is no turning back    
A sign our dreams are crushed    
Our emptiness filled with black    
Words silenced and thoughts hushed    
   
It's time we look at life with discern    
Fight back because we aren't done    
Join together so society returns    
And find ourselves where is the sun
