Bride

I secret my sunshine away
the cobwebs on my soul catch the light dazzling inside the deep shadows
brooding on thoughts best left undisturbed

I sink into deeper thought
garnering wisdom from philosophers of tragedy
it is errant to think my life is squandered

I was sent here to gain perspective
in my sadness, I reflect on the parables I've learned
the knowledge I've gained while suffering

how would I know love any other way
it is not magic to create a companion
it takes time and patience

sorrow a flavor for the soul
to make temperate and tender
keeping the secrets of hope on my lips

singing in Psalms to the Ages
until my wedding dress is donned
